If Deffenbaugh is your trash hauler, you need to start counting your trash bags.
Effective immediately, Deffenbaugh is enforcing a longstanding limit on the number of trash bags collected from residential customers.
Homeowners are allowed six bags of household waste and six bags of yard waste per week where an existing yard waste program is not already in place (yard waste must be bagged - paper or plastic - and limbs must be cut down and tied together).
Residents wishing to dispose of additional volumes of trash must contact Deffenbaugh to purchase stickers to mark their excess bags.
This change is part of the company's ongoing sustainability efforts to preserve the landfill and the environment. It does not affect Deffenbaugh's recycling program.
For more information, contact Deffenbaugh Industries at 913/631-3300.
NOTE: Deffenbaugh is a private company, and residents of Overland Park are responsible for hiring their own trash hauler. Some homes associations do that for members as part of an annual fee.
