Help Overland Park enhance its urban forest!

The city and its Legacy of Greenery Committee are partnering together to give away free tree and shrub seedlings Saturday, April 5.

Overland Park residents can pick up their seedlings between 9 a.m. and noon at the:

• Matt Ross Community Center, 8101 Marty
• Tomahawk Ridge Community Center, 11902 Lowell
• Overland Park Arboretum and Botanical Gardens, 8909 W. 179th St.

Get there early as there is a limited supply.

A mix of deciduous and evergreen trees and shrubs will be available. All are bare root and come with instructions on planting and maintenance.

Varieties of trees distributed this year include: bald cypress, lacebark elm, Northern red oak, pecan, redbud, eastern white pine, Norway spruce, black hills spruce, dawn redwood and Southwestern white pine.

Shrubs include: gold currant, fragrant sumac, oriental arborvitae, lilac and highbush cranberry.
