Permanent Sign Permits

At least one sign is typically allowed at each business or organization.

Specific regulations for signs vary depending upon the zoning district in which the sign is to be located. The basic rules for the type, number, size and location of permitted signs can be found in Chapter 18.440 of the city's Unified Development Ordinance.

A sign permit is required before installation of a permanent sign.

Most shopping centers, office parks and industrial parks in the city have their own sign criteria. This criteria specifies additional requirements for signs in that certain development beyond the general sign requirements for each zoning district.

Sign criteria are approved by the Planning Commission and allow the design, location and size of signs in a particular development to be specifically tailored to the proposed building architecture and the needs of that site.
