Special Inspections are a requirement of the International building code as adopted by the City. The requirements for Special Inspections are found in Chapter 17 of the International building code.
A Special Inspection is the inspection of work, which requires expertise in order to assure adequacy. Work requiring special inspection may involve the installation, fabrication, erection or placement of components, connections of buildings or structures. Depending on the type of work being performed, the inspection process may be continuous or periodic.
