Fire Inspections

Ensuring the safety of your employees and customers should be a top priority. In addition to meeting specific building safety codes, you must also comply with fire building safety codes.

Fire inspectors inspect buildings in Overland Park on an regular basis to ensure that buildings meet today's safety codes and tomorrow's challenges. Each building is assigned to an inspector based on their location.

Fire Inspection Process:

  1. An initial inspection is made and a report left with the manager/owner or business representative.

  2. After the initial inspection, the fire inspector will return within 30 days to see if the violation(s) has been corrected.

  3. If after 30 days the violation(s) has not been corrected, the fire inspector will write up a fee for service report. The inspector will set up a time to reinspect the facility with the manager/owner or business representative.

  4. The owner has three reinspections to correct a violation, each time they will be assessed a fee for service. If the problem still has not been resolved by the third visit, a notice to appear in court will be issued.
