False Alarm Prevention Program

The Police Department created this program for alarm users to learn more about their systems and how to reduce false alarms.

This is a fast-paced, two hour class filled with information on alarms. It's a great tool in deciding if an alarm system is right for you and what other options are available. The class is held in a casual environment. Refreshments are served, and we promise to answer all questions.

Topics discussed:

The program is free (in fact, we'll pay you to attend!). All attendees completing the class will receive a $50 certificate for any past or future alarm fees (Some alarm companies offer financial incentives to their Overland Park clients who attend this course so be sure to check with your provider...Only one $50 certificate can be issued per alarm permit per calendar year).

This class is available to residents and commercial users. For non-residents, some cities will accept our certificates. Check with your city for requirements, but regardless, you are welcome to attend.

This class is mandatory for users whose permit has been suspended for having more than 10 false alarms in a calendar year. This suspension does require the class for reinstatement.

Police response also can be suspended to alarm users for not paying application fees. This particular reinstatement does not require class attendance, only that the fees be paid.
