Rain Barrel

Rain, rain go away...wait stay!

Rain barrels have been used for centuries to conserve water and you can lower your water bills and improve streamways by reducing water consumption.

Fifty-five gallon barrels can be incorporated into your landscape by planting shrubbery or flowers around it or by painting the barrel as part of a creative art project.

Three local organizations sell barrels for a low cost and offer instruction on how to assemble it, or you can build your own.

Barrels and parts kits, which include everything you need, can be purchased through:

• Bridging the Gap - Barrels must be picked up at the 3 Trails Recycling Center,  9100 Hillcrest Road, Kansas City, Missouri.

• Habitat for Humanity ReStore -Supplies can be purchased at the organization's Kansas City, Missouri store, 4701 Deramus Ave.

• Johnson County Stormwater - Lily Raintainers are available to residents.
