Large Item Pick Up
913-895-6270
Get that unwanted junk from your garage or basement, and be prepared for Overland Park's annual large item spring clean up.
Each year the large item program serves one-half of the city, using Antioch as the dividing line. This year it is for residents who live west of Antioch. Each year it alternates east and west of Antioch.
The dates and areas have been scheduled for 2012:
- April 7, 99th Street north to the city limits
- April 14, 127th Street north to 99th Street
- April 21, 127th Street south to the city limits.
All items must be at the curb no later than 7 a.m. the day of pick up. Do not place items at the curb prior to the Friday before your collection date. Appliances may be collected separately from other items.
You can place up to two pickup loads of items in an orderly pile at the curb. Any excess will not be collected. Put out only those items not regularly collected by your trash service.
All loose items must be bundled. This includes wood scrap or drywall. Any loose items will not be picked up.
Special Note: No tree limbs, brush or yard waste will be collected as part of this program.
If you put out an appliance, make absolutely certain to secure the door to prevent any accidents.
Items that will be collected include:
- Appliances
- Car parts (no engines or fuel tanks)
- Railroad ties (four feet or less in length)
- Fencing
- Remodeling debris
- Furniture.
If you have debris or trash that is not normally collected as part of your weekly curbside service, contact your trash hauler and arrange a special collection. If you plan to haul it yourself, there are several disposal sites in the area.
