Improvements to U.S. 69, 75th to I-435
Road Closures/Reductions
U.S. 69 road closures and lane reductions are issued by the Kansas Department of Transportation. For your convenience, they are listed here as we receive them:
Construction has begun on the largest federal stimulus project in metropolitan Kansas City.
Crews are widening U.S. Highway 69 from 75th Street to nearly Interstate 435.
The project includes:
- Adding a lane in each direction to U.S. 69;
- Reconstructing Lenexa Drive from 87th to 75th streets;
- Improving interchanges at 95th, 87th and 75th streets; and
- Sewer improvements.
Originally estimated to cost $91 million, the actual construction bid was $82.3 million. Overland Park will pay $6.3 million for the project; federal stimulus money from KDOT will make up the difference.
Eventually, the city would like to extend improvements on U.S. 69 through 167th Street. This would exceed $500 million.
KDOT will oversee the project, which is expected to be completed by July 2012.
