Avoid late fees, license your pet today
June 9, 2010
Overland Park, KS - Late fees are just around the corner.
Starting Thursday, July 1, the city will start collecting late fees for dogs and cats, six months or older, who are not licensed. If you haven't registered Fluffy or Fido for 2010, now's the time.
The late fee is $20 per animal in addition to the standard pet tag charges: $20 per animal, or $10 per animal if spayed/neutered. The city requires all animals to be licensed annually. A license year is Jan. 1 through Dec. 31.
You can register your pet online; by mail; or in person at the City Clerk's Office at City Hall, 8500 Santa Fe Drive, or in the Municipal Court office at the W. Jack Sanders Justice Center, 12400 Foster.
An after hours drop box is located next to the front doors of City Hall, 8500 Santa Fe Drive.
At the time of licensing, you must provide a certificate from your veterinarian showing your pet has an unexpired rabies vaccination. The certificate must be included with your license fee since some veterinarians may no longer release your pet's information to the city.
For more information about licensing a pet, contact the City Clerk's Office at 913-895-6150 or visit the city's Web site, www.opkansas.org.
