Overland Park, KS - Wednesday's forecast of warmer weather means an opportunity for snow plow drivers.

"There are some residential streets that are snow and ice packed. Wednesday's temperature is expected to reach 40 degrees or more. We want to take advantage of it and further re-plow some neighborhood streets," said Rich Profaizer, manager of public works maintenance operations.

"It will begin at 7:30 a.m. and go until 4 p.m. and only through the rest of this week at the latest. Crews expect to be done Thursday afternoon. Even with this week's plowing, some streets may still have a thin coating of snow or ice afterward. Also, there will be plowed snow at the end of residential driveways. It is unavoidable.

"We ask residents to assist us by moving cars off the streets. This helps expedite plowing and allows for us to clear more of the street," Profaizer added.

City officials encourage residents to clean the public sidewalk in front of their house to assist walkers and children who walk to school.

News FactsOverland Park has over 1,800 lane miles of roadway. Overland Park has 840 miles of public sidewalks, which would stretch from Overland Park to Denver, Colo., and beyond.
