On Friday, temporary entrance and exit ramps from U.S. 69 to 95th Street will open, weather permitting.
In August, the permanent ramps closed while crews constructed temporary ramps to and from southbound U.S. 69 and 95th Street.
This work is part of the multi-year widening project on U.S. 69 from 75th Street to nearly Interstate 435.
The largest federally funded project in the Kansas City metro area, the more than $82 million project includes adding a lane in each direction to U.S. 69; reconstructing Lenexa Drive from 87th to 75th streets; and improving interchanges at 95th, 87th and 75th streets.
Eventually, the city would like to extend improvements on U.S. 69 through 167th Street.
Lane reductions and closures are expected to be part of this project that is being constructed with stimulus money from the Kansas Department of Transportation and the city. Projected finish date is 2011.
