Overland Park, KS - Residents are invited to offer suggestions on proposed capital and maintenance projects during two public meetings.

Public comment sessions for the 2013-2017 Capital Improvements Program are during the Planning Commission Monday, Feb. 13, meeting at 1:30 p.m.; and for the 2013-2017 CIP and Maintenance programs at the City Council meeting at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 20.

Both meetings will be held in the Council Chamber of City Hall, 8500 Santa Fe Drive.

The CIP is a five-year plan on future public improvements and facilities in the city.

It includes large projects, such as improvements to residential streets, thoroughfares and sidewalks, and the purchase of large equipment such as fire trucks.

The five-year maintenance program includes significant repairs to, renovation or rehabilitation of, or in-kind replacement of city infrastructure and facilities.

Both programs provide data concerning costs, timing, funding sources, budget impacts and alternatives.

Preparation of the 2013-2017 CIP and Maintenance programs began last fall as an initial step in development of the 2013 operating budget.

If you wish to submit comments via e-mail, you can send them to city@opkansas.org.

For more information, call 913/895-6000 or visit the City's Web site at www.opkansas.org.
