The process to find a new city manager has begun.
Monday night the Overland Park Governing Body approved various preliminary steps as it begins the formal process of finding a replacement for current City Manager John Nachbar. Nachbar has accepted a similar job with Culver City, Calif. He begins that new job in late August or early September.
Kristy Stallings, deputy city manager, who has been with Overland Park for 21 years, will be interim city manager upon Nachbar's departure. She has stated she will not be applying for the vacant position.
The City Council approved establishment of an Executive Search Firm Screening and Selection Committee, and a City Manager Screening Committee. The entire process is expected to take five to six months.
