Dogs and kids, what do they have in common?

Water.
Well, at least on Saturday in Overland Park.
The annual Kids' Fishing Rodeo is Saturday at South Lake Park, 7601 W. 86th St., from 9 to 11 a.m.
Kids, ages 3 to 12, are invited to participate for free. All you need to do is bring a fishing pole; bait is provided. Experts will be on hand to assist children (and adults).
There will be free hot dogs and drinks provided by the VFW and Ladies' Auxiliary Post 846.
Also on Saturday is the second, and final, Pooch Plunge. It is from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Tomahawk Ridge Aquatic Center, 11950 Lowell.
The cost is $5 per dog. You must bring proof of vaccination to show. Required vaccinations include rabies, canine distemper and kennel cough.
Only dogs are allowed in the water. No retractable leashes are allowed. You must clean up after your pet.
