What's New

The city is in the midst of transitioning to
a new technology for interactive mapping
that is more responsive and has a much
improved user interface.

Check out What's Happening in
My Neighborhood or the list in the
Interactive Maps section, including new
maps such as Floodplain Info.

Overland Park offers both interactive and Adobe Acrobat PDF maps that illustrate a range of information and geographic features.

Virtually all of the city's maps are created with a special category of software, Geographic Information System (GIS), which not only allows map creation and viewing, but also enables complex location-based analyses that supports better government decision-making.

Interactive Maps are intended to be viewed from your computer and are best suited to users who want to quickly find detailed information about a specific portion of the city or to compare information from several locations. The user will interact with the map by zooming to a particular location(s), adjusting what information is shown, and then querying for detailed information about that location(s).

Printable Maps are pre-formatted maps that can be easily printed, although many of the maps are designed to be printed on large format color plotters. The user typically will download these maps to his or her local computer where they can be viewed or printed.
