Yes. All new officers attend a 16-week Police Academy at Johnson County Community College in Overland Park. Attendance is sponsored by OPPD sot here is not tuition cost to officers.

Officers do not live on campus and most classes are conducted during normal business hours. Officers receive full pay and benefits while attending.
