Juvenile Firesetters Program

(you may remain anonymous when calling)
Designed to help parents address the problem of fire misuse by a child in their home, these hour-long free training sessions teach respect and proper handling of fire and fire tools.
The main message: fire and fire tools are for adults only.
Homework is given at the end of each session. Parents are asked to read a few pages from the parent handbook and complete two or three simple activities with their child (age and circumstances are taken into consider when designing the program).
Most children and their parents complete the program in three sessions; however, education alone does not work for some children. Our advisors, while experienced and trained educators, are not counselors. Additional help from a counselor may be required (at your expense); if so, the program advisor will work with the counselor to provide an appropriate educational program.
The goal is to use education in a positive way to help children understand the danger of their behavior and make better choices regarding fire and fire tools.
