Workplace Fire Safety

Every business needs an emergency plan. Not only should it be up-to-date, but it should be practiced often so employees know what to do in the event of a true emergency.
The Fire Department cannot write your emergency plan, but staff can give guidance, answer questions, provide example forms and diagrams, discuss the building's fire protection features and give validity to an emergency plan that should include:
The Fire Department - It is our responsibility to inspect for code compliance and be prepared to respond to an emergency in your building in the quickest and most efficient way possible.
Building management - Responsible for developing a plan and making changes to the plan, as necessary, based on the changes that occur in the organization or building. They also need to make the occupants aware of the plan and their expected role in it.
Building occupants (employees) - Responsible for acting appropriately, according to the plan. The fire department can be prepared and the management can create the perfect plan, but if people don't respond, the plan is not successful.
Presentations generally last 30-45 minutes and include an abbreviated version of the classroom-only fire extinguisher class.
To request a presentation and/or help with your emergency plan, submit a request as soon as possible to the fire department.
