Special Needs Fire Department Fun Day
Fire Fun Day is all about the children!
Spend the day, Saturday, May 19, with Johnson County firefighters and emergency service providers at the Overland Park Fire Training Center, 12401 Hemlock. This come-and-go-as-you-like event is for children with special needs and their families.
Guests will be treated to lunch served by the fire fighters, enjoy fire truck rides, demonstrations by fire fighters and other fun things.
This is definitely a "bring your camera and video recorder" event.
Events:
10 a.m. - Demonstrations begin and continue all day including:
- Propane Fire Demo - Flames shooting 30' into the air;
- See firefighters rappel off the side of the training tower;
- See firefighters turn a hardtop into a convertible; and
- Shriners will be on hand giving Fire Wagon rides.
Noon to 1:30 p.m. - Lunch served
Plus:
- Fire Truck Rides,
- Kids Firefighter Obstacle Course challenge,
- Aerial Ladder Rides,
- Ambulance Displays,
- Spray A Fire Hose, and
- other surprises continuously throughout the day.

Directions:
From The North:
Take Antioch Road south to 125th Street. Turn east (left) on 125th and follow it until it ends at Hemlock. Go north (left) on Hemlock and follow it into the Training Center parking lot.
From The South:
Take Antioch Road north to 125th Street. Turn east (right) on 125th and follow it until it ends at Hemlock. Go north (left) on Hemlock and follow it into the Training Center parking lot.
