Stream Corridor Ordinance

The City of Overland Park adopted a Stream Corridor Ordinance in 2002.

The ordinance is to protect and stabilize stream banks, provide flood control, preserve existing stream corridors for habitats, ensure water quality, offer recreational and educational opportunities, enhance aesthetics and more.

The guidelines were balanced with the needs of development interests and the city's requirements to meet future regulations of the Federal Clean Water Act and National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES).
