Councilmember Jim Hix - Ward 5
Councilmember Jim Hix was elected to the City Council in 2001. He was re-elected in April 2005, April 2009 and has served as Council President.
Hix has served in numerous civic and charitable organizations, including having served as chairman of the Overland Park Chamber of Commerce and president of the Overland Park Rotary Club. He has served on the Board of Directors of Johnson County Community College Foundation, the American Cancer Society - Johnson County Division and the Overland Park Rotary Club Foundation.
Professionally, Hix was the founder of Bossler-Hix Personnel and served as its president/owner from 1969 until 2000. He is currently on the Board of Directors of Metcalf Bank and Saint Luke's South Hospital.
He was an Adjunct Associate Professor at Johnson County Community College where he taught Human Relations in Organizations. He holds a Master's of Business Administration from the University of Missouri-Kansas City, and a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Nebraska in Lincoln.
Hix and his wife have two children who graduated from the University of Kansas.
