City Manager Bill Ebel
Bill Ebel is the City Manager. He was appointed by the Overland Park City Council on Monday, Jan. 3, 2011. He is the fifth city manager of Overland Park since its incorporation as a first class city on May 20, 1960.
Bill was promoted from his position as director of Planning & Development Services Department following a nationwide search by the Governing Body to fill the vacant position. Five candidates were interviewed for City Manager.
Bill was promoted to director of Planning in February, 2008, from his position as city engineer/deputy director of Public Works, which he was promoted to in April, 2005. He began his tenure with the city in July 2000 when he was hired as manager of Public Works maintenance.
Prior to his career with Overland Park, Bill retired from the United States Army after almost 22 years of service. He is a 1979 graduate of West Point and has master's degrees in Public Administration, Geotechnical Engineering and Structural Engineering.
He has served in the public sector as a senior manager for over 30 years.
